Joy Happenings
I (Lacey) am sitting here writing this in a dark room to be able to watch the lights on my Christmas tree twinkle. It brings me joy (I talk about it a bit on this week’s No Shame In The Home Game), and its some of the most simple joy I’ve had for a while.
This past week has been rough for me. I shared a bit about it on social media this week because frankly, I hit a pretty solid low. Only to follow up that low with a cold/cough/who knows what, that has made me pretty incapacitated.
All of the bad happened and is still happening (as I cough and need to take a break from typing), but there is still this twinkling moment of joy. We talk about how Joy is the fuel to get you to the next day in our Joyful Support Course and man, the joy of these twinkling lights is the stop at the gas station I needed.
What’s the best advice someone has given you that still makes you smile?
My Grandma (Lacey) always made the best pies. She always insisted that buying the Pillsbury Pie Crusts (their brand – the generics aren’t up to snuff) were just as good as making yours at home so to not worry about the time or effort into making it from scratch. This always made me smile because there is some serious sass behind it and something I appreciate even more now looking to make my own life easier.
Sara’s grandmother once said after hand washing the dishes ‘And now we let God do the drying’ and it still makes me smile. It wasn’t about the religious connection, but that there are areas of life to put in the effort and other areas we can sit back and let the easy unfold.
As always – share yours on social media tagging Joyful Support Movement, in the Joyful Support Village, or just by responding to this email!
