I interviewed Laura Sinclair, a public relations and social media marketing executive who is also a serial entrepreneur. Laura shared her perspective on the “messy middle,” where she lives as a mother and entrepreneur. During the pandemic, Laura owned a CrossFit gym in Ontario, Canada, which eventually had to shut down permanently during COVID-19. She talked about the challenges faced by a gym owner during the pandemic and the struggles of balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship, particularly when she had to make the difficult decision to close her gym. Laura then transitioned to running a digital marketing agency, where she now supports small business owners as a business and marketing mentor. Despite her preference for in-person interactions, Laura adapted to the digital world and emphasized the importance of community in the CrossFit experience.

Laura talked about how she uses her experience as a fitness coach to help women in business as a coach and mentor. She emphasized the importance of transformation and helping people navigate their middle, which is where she feels her expertise lies. Laura also talked about the importance of being a good person with boundaries rather than just being nice, especially for women in business. She shared two pieces of advice: the importance of being a good person rather than just nice, and asking for help and not trying to do everything on your own.
