No this isn’t a Batman Reference

If you haven’t heard, I am producing a second podcast called No Shame In The Home Game. This is a plug but also helped me come to a realization.

Lately, I’ve been having more and more conversations about our homes and the things that we say are important and valuable. This made me realize that The Mddl has become too serious. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I’ve been sharing about my journey, how things have evolved, and tackling big topics like my marriage and family. However, I also value the lighthearted nature of my being.

Deep, not serious

Friends, I’m not that serious of a person. I am deep, but not serious. You know serious people. According to my AI, “serious refers to someone who is solemn, earnest, or determined in character or manner.” The solemn part is what I can never get behind when it comes to being serious as a person.

Now, I can be deep. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite phrases to kick off a conversation with friends when we are going to talk about something serious is, “let’s get deep.” The Mddl is deep, but it doesn’t have to be so serious.

I want to shake off this seriousness.

Blame it on the Perfectionism

Perfectionism has been stopping my lightheartedness. This is a sort of essay, because I don’t want to overwhelm myself by trying to come up with just the right thing to write about to be less serious. That’s why this is later on Wednesday than normal.

I wanted to find the right funny thing to talk about, but I couldn’t find one. I thought about talking about how cool and amazing I think roads are as a connection. That there is a system of interconnecting things that means I could travel by car from one side of the country to another. Or how language is such an amazing thing that constantly adapts and changes but still has meaning.

I’m not high, I just think these things are cool and can go off on fun and silly rants.

As usual, I have no answer or specific wise words to end with. Just know that I want to lighten it up around here.
