Your Weekly Dose of Joy: Mental Health, Meaningful Moments, and Moving Forward

Weekly Joy

A little bit of Joyful Support directly in your inbox!

This week, we’re diving deep into the heart of our community’s mission: supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. We believe in the power of vulnerability, the strength found in sharing our struggles, and the importance of finding joy in small moments. Today, we’re exploring these themes through personal stories, practical advice, and community engagement. Let’s come together to spread joy, offer support, and remember that it’s okay to pivot when life throws us curveballs.

Joy Happenings

I (Lacey) got vulnerable and deep on social media yesterday, sharing that I’ve been in a pretty rough place mentally and emotionally the past few months. The hard thing about depression is that to improve you need to admit to it, but you don’t want to admit it because it is scary. When you’re in the low of depression, it’s hard to see the other side. It is hard to trust that you will come back up.

Luckily, after admitting it to myself, my husband, and most importantly, my psychiatrist, we are working on helping me get to the other side faster… and I already am. It’s important to me to share this with you all for a few reasons:

  1. If you are in your low, I see you. It is hard. Getting to the other side feels impossible, but you can get there, my friend.
  2. I can still spread and experience joy in that low, and it’s those moments that help me get from one side to the next. Picking out a silly picture and caption each week was my something small and meaningful that helped me keep moving.
  3. The good and the bad exist all at once and we can recognize and honor all of it.

If you’re in your low, please get professional help and support! The village and our movement is another place you can work day to day to try to get to the other side. That’s the main reason we created this community and space, and hope it can help you all, like it helped me.

What’s something small but meaningful you did today that made you smile? It could be as simple as enjoying your morning coffee, helping a neighbor, or accomplishing a task you’ve been putting off. We’d love to hear about your moment of joy!

Share your moment on our social media tagging us, in the Joyful Support Movement Village, or just responding to this email.

Last week on No Shame in the Home Game, we discussed that there is No Shame in Pivoting. If there is one thing you will hear repeated on NSHG, it is adapting to your situation. We are pivoting the podcast to adjust to new life details and guess what—you get to do the same!!

Is there some area in your life where you feel like you are forcing a tad too much? Is it time to pivot and work with life instead of against it?

Now you can ask for guidance and support on NSHG! Fill out our form and ask your home management questions. Stay tuned for the suggested solutions!

Remember, dear community, that our journey through life is filled with both challenges and triumphs. As we’ve shared today, it’s okay to acknowledge our struggles and seek help when we need it. Whether you’re finding joy in small moments, considering a pivot in your life, or simply showing up for yourself and others, you’re contributing to the strength of our supportive network. Let’s continue to uplift each other, share our stories, and spread joy in whatever way we can. Together, we’re creating a community where it’s safe to be vulnerable, celebrate small victories, and navigate life’s twists and turns. Until next time, keep spreading joy and remember: you’re not alone in this journey.

Now go out there and spread some joy!
