Joy Happenings
Once again, I (Lacey) shared my story of postpartum recovery, but this time it was positive!
I posted on Instagram about how well I am being checked in on by my healthcare professionals when it comes to keeping an eye on postpartum depression. Sharing is important because it shows the possibilities of caring and preventative medical care.
I want this to be our norm, not our exception.
My (Sara) grandmother on my mother’s side was always in the kitchen. When I think of her, I immediately think of all the amazing food we ate together: fried okra, eggplant parmesan, Joe Frogger cookies, to name a few. So much delicious goodness.
After she passed and the family was given the opportunity to have a keepsake to remember her by, I took 2 wooden spoons. I can see her now using the spoons all through my childhood. If one of those spoons could talk, I would want to hear about all the meals my grandmother made over the years. I would want to hear about all the houses it traveled to, all the special events it helped prepare for, and stories of my grandmother from over the years.
I know that spoon can’t talk, but I still enjoy using it and feeling just a little bit closer to her and her memory.
If you could give one inanimate object in your home the ability to talk, which one would it be? What would you ask it?

I (Lacey) also would pick something passed on by my grandmother – a rocking chair that was in her living room. She held all my kids (and many others) in this chair for the first time. My new daughter was the first of mine that she didn’t and I sat in it a few days ago and just let the tears fall. I felt like I won the lottery when I got that chair – I would love to hear it talk about all the Christmases and new babies it saw. *Note – this is not the actual chair, just one I thought was super dreamy.
