Your Weekly Dose of Joy: Stories, Smiles & Spring Cleaning

Weekly Joy

A little bit of Joyful Support directly in your inbox!

Spring is in full bloom, and with it comes a fresh perspective on the simple things that bring us joy. This week, we’re exploring the power of storytelling, the impact of a genuine smile, and how getting back to basics can help us navigate life’s challenges with more clarity and purpose. Whether you’re in the midst of spring cleaning or seeking ways to share your journey, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Joy Happenings

I (Sara) love getting back to basics. A reminder of why we are doing a task, what the goal is, and how to do it. Sort of a refresh button meets an ounce of invigoration. So let’s talk Story.

Why is Story important in Joyful Support: Story helps us define what is going on in our world and how we feel about it. Just like having a map and plotting a course, you need to know where you are first before anything else can happen. Otherwise, you can end up wandering around not going anywhere. If you feel stuck and confused, Story can be a tool to help.

The goal with Story: Once you identify what is happening in your world and the feelings that are coming along with it, the goal is that by defining it and giving it shape, you will feel a little less burden, a little more clarity of all the factors at play, and possibly gain insight on what needs to happen to help you get through it.

How to do the Story Step: There is no wrong way to share your story. You can share it with yourself inside your mind, or say it out loud with a caring person. You can write it down for your eyes only, or share it with a friend. Your story is how YOU feel and see the situation. There is no grade, no evaluation, and no wrong way.

What is most important is that the story is met with compassion. Compassion for yourself, or if that isn’t happening, then compassion from supportive people in your world. If this sounds like something you would like to know more about and have a place to share your story, consider the Joyful Support Village. We are always here to listen to your story.

Pretty consistently, I (Sara) receive compliments on my smile. It fills my heart with joy to receive that compliment and to give them as well. There are so many reasons I enjoy this compliment: you can’t fake a sincere smile, they are free, they spread joy easily, and you can take them with you everywhere.

I’m not always able to share my smile, but when I can, I do. And that makes me smile just thinking about it. 😊

What’s the best compliment you’ve received (or given) lately?

Let us know yours by posting on social media tagging Joyful Support Movement, tell us in The Village, or just respond to this email!

There are quite a few of you doing Spring Cleaning this year! If you want to spring clean but aren’t sure where to start, we suggest using our Pain Point Locator!

The Pain Point Locator is a tool for you to find places in your home that are causing issues and helps you prioritize how to tackle problems. The beauty of using this is that you can attack what will actually make an impact on your home, not an arbitrary area that would work in someone else’s home.

Become a friend of the JSM for free and get access to the Pain Point Locator for free!

As you navigate the days ahead, remember that your story matters, your smile has power, and sometimes the simplest solutions can bring the most profound changes. Whether you’re finding your voice through storytelling, brightening someone’s day with kindness, or creating order in your space, know that the Joyful Support community stands ready to walk alongside you. Until next time, keep spreading joy and taking those meaningful steps forward.

Now go out there and spread some joy!
